Sep 7 2010: Band lesson registration for Hudson Public Schools - Hudson Public School students in grades 4 and older are invited to register for afterschool band lessons. To learn more, an information night for parents will be held at Hudson High School, 69 Brigham Street, Hudson on Tuesday, September 7 at 6:30 p.m. Demonstrations of musical instruments will be given. Sep 8 2010: Breast Cancer Support Group will meet in the Schwartz Conference Room at Marlborough Hospital, 157 Union Street from 7 – 8:30 PM. This ongoing support group is facilitated by a nurse and provides educational and emotional support for women coping with breast and other forms of cancer. The group usually meets the first Wednesday of the month at the hospital from September through June. This month we are having the group after Labor Day on the second Wednesday. Sep 10 2010: Riverview Gallery Presents: Pastels by Dave Kaphammer - July 1, 2010 to September 10, 2010. Art Opening: July 1st, 7-9 pm with Free Appetizers from 7 to 8pm. Dave Kaphammer has been drawing all his life. Pastels were a perfect medium to begin painting with color while maintaining the intimate feel of drawing. Working mainly from his own photographs, the artist explores the local landscape, looking for scenes to use as inspiration for paintings. Riverview Gallery is now open in the Riverview Restaurant at the Hudson Portuguese Club, 13 Port St., Hudson, where European ambiance, style and culture all come together with inspired Portuguese and American cusine. Inside the newly renovated Riverview Restaurant, changing exhibitions of artworks compliment the beautiful murals of stone arches that frame a breathtaking view of cliff lined seas and blue skies. Sep 10 2010: An Evening with Dinner and "Fados" - Fado, pronounced "Fadoo", is a musical genre unique to the country of Portugal and its people. Hudson Portuguese Club, 13 Port St., 7:00 pm. Sep 19 2010: "Lace up 4 a Cure" to raise funds for the charity of your choice! Sunday, September 19th, 10:30 am Registration, 12:00 pm Walk begins, (2 routes; 1 mile and 5 miles), Run, walk or crawl, we take it all! Rain or shine! Teams are welcome. Walk will begin at the Hudson Portuguese Club. The fee for the walk is $20.00 and will be donated to the charity of your choice. Additional donations are accepted. When registering, you will have 4 choices: 1) Walk: We invite you to sign up to walk with others, as well as to select the charity of your choice. 2) Fundraise: If you're not able to join the walk/run you can still lend a hand by fundraising over the next few weeks for your charity of choice. 3) Volunteer: If you're fundraising, but would also like to help. Sign up for the numerous volunteer opportunities prior, during or post the event. 4) Cheerleaders: If you're not able to walk, you can cheer the walkers along the route. Sep 19 2010: The Hudson Senior Center is planning its Open House for Sunday, September 19th from 1 to 4 pm. It will be held at the newly expanded and renovated Center at 29 Church St. Preliminary plans include a flag ceremony with color guard, tour of the new facility, video of the center through the years, speeches by state and town elected officials, refreshments etc….stay tuned for more details.

The donation will go towards the purchase, shipping, and installation, including a personalized plaque, of site amenities such as a bench, game table, picnic table, bike rake, tree and more. Site amenities will be placed at the new canal walk and the South Street Park expansion. On going Hudson Senior Center Meat Raffle & Quilt Gallery: Meat Raffle; at 10 am at Hudson Senior Center, located on Church St. in Hudson. Tickets are $1.00 each, must be present to win. The meat raffle will be held the first Sat. of each month, unless the Sat. is a holiday than it will be held the second Sat. Quilt Gallery; 10 am until noon held the first Sat of each month unless it’s a holiday than the second Sat. The Silver Threads of the Hudson Senior Center meet each Thurs. 10 am to 11 am. The Gallery will offer for sale quilts, aprons, table runners, bags, wall hanging all made by the Silver Threads.

On going Art in the Hall features a different artist bi-monthly at Hudson Town Hall, 78 Main Street. The public is invited to enjoy this art work weekdays 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and whenever Town Hall is open. There is no admission charge. All of the works may be purchased. Parking is available along Main and Church Streets, as marked, as well as in a small lot behind the building. On going Knitting For Those in Need - Join us for some relaxing and pleasant times while doing something to help those who need it. First United Methodist church of Hudson has re-started it's prayer shawl group. It is open to all crocheters and knitters from beginners to advanced. We make things to give away whenever or wherever a need arises- shawls, lap robes, baby caps for the hospital, mittens, scarves - anything that can help another.
